​Annabel Bashford is an actress, comedian and theatre maker based in London. Annabel studied at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris.​With over twenty year experience performing live comedy, Annabel creates surreal and hilarious worlds through her unique and imaginative characters such as Oysterman and Mindy the demented dolly. In May 2024 she performed at the Soho Theatre in Fool's Moon Cabaret. Later this year she will perform in a cabaret and as part of the Clown Choir at Knockengorrorch festival alongside clown priestess Lucy Hopkins.  

 

In 2023 she was awarded the Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant by Arts Council England. With this fund she traveled to the U.S.A to train at the School For Comedy Beasts at the Lookout Arts Quarry with Deanna Fleysher (Butt Kapinski). This experience was profoundly liberating and her passion for exploring character clown has never felt so strong. In spring 2024 as part of her DYCP she got her British Sign Language certificate level 1 from City Lit.  As assistant director she has worked for Cal McCrystal ('Bless' 2007) and Paul King ('The Blue Diamond of Askabar' 2003). She is founder and director of Moon Dust Theatre. A theatre company that works with professional performers and adults with disabilities.  She is very passionate about working with this under represented group.​​ She is a very experienced comedic performer having produced and featured in many shows for the Edinburgh fringe ('Clink Clank Clonkerty Clonk' 2023, 'One Man Two Ghosts' 2016, 'The Widow, the Virgin and the Lamb' 2014 and 'Molly and Fuffkin' 2011) In 2018 she co- devised a show for the London Clown Festival ('Chimney Pot's Twisted Jazz' 2018).​

 

Annabel's performing credits include; 'Pink Panther' (Italy tour 2018) 'Kate and Mim Mim live show' (Nationwide UK tour 2018) 'Dick Whittington' (Rural tour 2018) 'Mother Goose' (Rural Tour 2019) 'Midnight Madness' (Immersive show 2019) 'Old Stinker' (Henshaws Arts and Crafts 2021) 'Superheros Academy' (Stockeld Park 2022) 'Monster Mash' (Stockeld Park 2022) 'King Arthur' (Rusticus 2022) 'The Winged Finger of Knaresborough' (Henshaws Arts and Crafts 2022).​As a facilitator she has in worked with Clowns Without Borders, Moon Dust Theatre, Harrogate Theatre Royal, Henshaws Arts and Crafts, Break Theatre, Smile, Theatrebugs and Easi Works. ​
